Brief Introduction to the Chinese Department

　　The Chinese Department of Teachers College of Eastern Liaoning University is reconstructed on the basis of the former Chinese Department of Dandong Teacher's College, which was founded in 1978. It offers Chinese Language and Literature (CL&L) and Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language (TCFL) for undergraduate program, and provides Secretary, Public Relation and Advertising specialty for three-year program. The department has two teaching and research sections about CL&L and TCFL.

　　There has been over 70 teachers including 40 professors and associate professors in the department since twenty-seven years ago. Today, among the total staff of 16, there is 1 professor, 5 associate professors and 10 lecturers, 6 of whom hold master degree, 1 is studying for PH.D and 5 for M.A..

　　The faculty in the Chinese Department who have always been loving and devoting to their duty, managing regularly, teaches and educates college students with the purpose “The well learned, the master; the properly behaved, the model”. The Chinese Department has formed good department spirit with Diligence, Preciseness, Seeking Reality and Innovating. Since its founding, the department has already educated over thousands of students, many of whom have been backbone teachers and well received by their employers because of their higher qualities, abilities and excellent display in teaching. In academic research, the faculty members have published more than ten monographs and over six hundred academic research papers in various national newspapers and magazines and compiled over thirty textbooks, which has achieved a lot. Meanwhile a group of specialists and the scholars and their works are well-known both home and abroad. H. Lawrence study” by Prof. Gao Wenbin, and “Chinese Pedagogy” by Prof. Wang Anlin, all of which have got high reputation in their respective academic circles. Among the professors, Zhao Hongli, Yuan Shaojie, Bi Shuchun and Wang Anlin ever won Education Fund Award “zeng Xianzi”.

　　Since 1988, there have been many undergraduates, graduates and doctors from Cambridge University, London Economic College, Zhongzhou University in Korea. The Chinese Department has established more than twenty specialized courses for international academic exchange. It also received lots of trainees from Japan and Russia. The teaching qualities and effects have been highly received. At present, there are still some oversea students from Korea, South Korea and Russia majoring undergraduate courses.

　　The department leaders and the faculty are making efforts to establish Chinese as with characteristic specialty. With the traditional achievements, we have confidence in developing the CL&L and TCFL into the first-class major in local college.
